Singleton Class
Recently, we spent an afternoon in Singleton Park in Swansea. The park has a botanical garden, and much like the Tyntesfield visit, the day was bright with an overcast that made it idea for macro photography.
This time however, I had my Alpha 77 and 50mm macro lens with me. What the results go to show is, that in these circumstances - which is to say that of making images of flowers which are planted in deep borders whilst supporting the camera by hand - the zoom lens wins hands down.
Anyway, you can judge for yourselves as I post the results over the next week or so. The above image is probably the best of the set.
BTW: The title of this post is a C++ pun - don't mock, there's only one other C++ joke that I know and that's not repeatable in front of a family audience.

I Broke My Promise
I'm afraid that I've another image to post from the Brean Down set. Sorry.
This one is another in the occasional "People" series. This family is actually a fair way out on Brean Sands, which is not the safest place in the world to be.

Fortified Whine
Another image from the Brean Down Father's Day outing. This time, we're looking at the main gun emplacement inside the fort. This image features another of those "spot the lady" competitions, following on from the runaway success of the Hestercombe image. Answers on a postcard to the usual address.

Brean Downer
We spent Father's Day afternoon on Brean Down, which is effectively the fag end of the Mendips extending out into the Severn Estuary. To the north is Weston and Brean itself is to the south.
The down is actually an interesting place to visit, with several layers of history - an iron age fort, a Roman temple and a Napoleonic fort which was revamped during WWII. Its also a relatively easy walk as the thoughtful people who built the fort also built a road leading up to it.
The day was quite bright, but with an overcast which made it quite a fruitful day for photography, so I've a few images from this outing to post.
This is an image of the very end of the promontory, with Steep Holm in the distance and a Second World War searchlight station in the foreground.

Please Enunciate Carefully in Our Village
A few weeks ago we spent a Sunday afternoon at Blue Anchor on the north Somerset coast. In the grand tradition of British seaside, the place boasts the following attractions:
- A shingle beach;
- A promenade;
- A cafe;
- A station on the West Somerset Railway;
- Err...
- ...that's it.
This image was made on platform 2 of the station, which features some very well tended flower beds.
