The Last Rose of Summer

Colour image of a rose made using a Sony Alpha 77.

I made this image earlier today in our garden, where this rose is blooming - the last of the year, I suspect.

Eden Hazard

Mono image of a flower made at the Eden Project using a Sony Alpha 77.

I made this image during a summer holiday visit to the Eden Project. It was somewhere in the rainforest biome, I think.

As we're back on the subject of flowers, here's an image of another. This was made in the gardens of Castle Drogo, on a recent trip to Cornwall.

Why, Boston?

Mono image of a pylon near the fishing lake at Wyboston Lakes, made with a Sony Alpha 77.

Recently, I attended the IET's Safety Critical Systems Course at Wyboston Lakes. I can't recommend the place. This was taken on an early morning walk round the fishing lake.

Doing the Charlestown

Mono image of a chapel in Charlestown, Cornwall.

We visited Charlestown recently - that's the one in Cornwall. Apparently, some filming for Poldark is conducted there.

On leaving, I noticed this chapel, which seemed like the only authentic building in the place, whatever that means.

Horsing Around

Mono image of two horses on Wavering Down made using a Sony Alpha 77.

Another evening walk with the cubs, this time to Wavering Down. These horses were wondering around near the triangulation point, and I made this image just as we were leaving.

What a Drain

Colour image of the Kings Sedgemoor drain, made using a Sony Alpha 77.

This is an image of the King's Sedgemoor Drain, made after sunset, looking due West. The sluice gate that you can just about see in the centre of the image is the coastal outfall.

The Organ Stops at Killerton

Mono image of the organ stops belonging to the organ in the drawing room at Killerton house, made using a Sony Alpha 77.

Pretty much what it says on the tin. We went to Killerton over the Christmas holidays. The weather was good, and the place was heaving - National Trust is about the only thing open over Christmas.

Where's Lorry? Repudiated

Colour image of the peat works at Burtle in Somerset made using a Sony Alpha 77.

On reflection (pun intended), I decided that I didn't particularly like the previous image, so here's an alternative treatment of the same subject.
