Floodland


If you've been watching the news recently, you may have come to the understanding that the whole of Somerset is under water. However, I have to tell you that this is a misapprehension, promulgated by the news media, presumably to allow them to fashion a simple narrative out of a complex set of events.

This image was made on Aller Moor, just before sunset yesterday. As you can see, there is some flooding, however I could have taken this photograph last year, or the one before that, or any year in the past century or more, I suspect.

Those of you of a certain age will probably recognise the title of this post as a Sisters of Mercy album, which was brought to mind when I recently heard 'This Corrosion' on the radio, which is what you get for listening to Radio 2.
