Post-Diluvian

In general, I try to remove signs of human habitation from my landscapes. In this case, I liked the way that the upward curve of the trees echoes the downward curve of the skyline, so I went with it anyway.

This is the last of the images from this session that I'm going to post - back to still life next time.

Floodland

If you've been watching the news recently, you may have come to the understanding that the whole of Somerset is under water. However, I have to tell you that this is a misapprehension, promulgated by the news media, presumably to allow them to fashion a simple narrative out of a complex set of events.

This image was made on Aller Moor, just before sunset yesterday. As you can see, there is some flooding, however I could have taken this photograph last year, or the one before that, or any year in the past century or more, I suspect.

Those of you of a certain age will probably recognise the title of this post as a Sisters of Mercy album, which was brought to mind when I recently heard 'This Corrosion' on the radio, which is what you get for listening to Radio 2.

Five Trees...

...are fifteen.

Its been a while since I posted anything to do with trees. Some of you may remember that I wrote a piece about the particular kind of image that I was trying to make.

I made this image a few weeks ago, standing on the village green in Priddy, and I think that I'm approaching some approximation of the image that's in my head. But I'm not quite there yet.

Hocus Crocus II

Another image of a crocus from the same session as the previous image.

More Sony imaging product announcements today, with headlines being grabbed by the A6000. If you've been paying attention - and there's no reason why you should - you'll know that this naming convention signifies an e-mount camera. And so it does, as this model replaces the NEX6 and NEX7. Given the lack of significant technical changes, the cynical amongst us might conclude that this update has been motivated by the desire to remove NEX branded cameras from the range as quickly as possible.

A-mount watchers will also remember that NEX7 launched alongside the Alpha 77, which is the same camera in a DSLT form factor. This time round, an a-mount announcement is notable by its absence, although promised for April.

Hocus Crocus

Another bright and chilly Sunday morning spent in the garden resulted in this image of a crocus.

The Elusive Snowdrop

The session that produced the images of the hydrangea started out as an attempt to photograph snowdrops, which wasn't entirely successful. This image is probably the best of a bad job.

You may remember that I posted an image of a snowdrop some while ago. In that case, I had to resort to an 'alternative' tinting to make an interesting image. Here, I've settled for a simple mono conversion, but my definitive snowdrop image still eludes me.

Alternative Rock

This is positively the last image of the hydrangea that I'm going to post.
